Groups can truly be “a sheltering tree” for members who seek support, direction, and a safe place to take risks and learn new ways of relating. There are several ongoing groups at A Sheltering Tree, and new groups are formed based on clients’ needs or requests. Below are some of the groups being offered at A Sheltering Tree.

The Sunday group was formed for women who want the experience of being in a group but who cannot make a weekly commitment. This group begins each year in September and meets one Sunday afternoon (1 p.m. -5 p.m.) a month through May. The group’s year either begins with a weekend retreat or includes a Christmas retreat. This group is limited to eight members.

Personal Growth Group

On Wednesday nights from 6:30 – 8:00, a personal growth group for men and women meet and explore issues determined by the group. Each session is twelve weeks, and the group is limited to seven members.

Grief and Bereavement Group

As needed, a grief and bereavement group is offered for those dealing with loss issues. For those walking through the lonely process of grief, this group provides connection, support, and hope. The group is limited to six members and requires a twelve-week commitment.
